Dear parishioners of St. Barbara Parish and members of the Santa Barbara Mission Community,
It is with great excitement and gratitude that I announce that Fr. Dan Lackie, OFM, will assume the role of Pastor of St. Barbara Parish effective September 8, 2017. Fr. Dan brings a history of pastoral experience to this new role, having served a number of years as parochial vicar at Sts. Simon and Jude Parish in Huntington Beach, California. Most recently, Fr. Dan has held roles of service in the Province – including the Development Office, Vocations Office, and the office of Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation. Some of you might recall Fr. Dan’s role in the celebration of the Provincial Centennial in 2015. Currently Fr. Dan also serves on the Definitorium as a Trustee for all Province institutions.
I would like to take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Fr. John Hardin, OFM, who generously stepped in to lead the parish as Interim Administrator when Fr. Adrian left earlier this year. Fr. John’s presence and his understanding of the pastoral needs of the parish during this time of transition have been most helpful. Fr. John is remaining at the Mission, where he will focus efforts on his role as Guardian of the OMSB friary as well as outreach to the extended Santa Barbara community.
Please join me in welcoming Fr. Dan as Pastor and offering your support as he assumes his· pastoral duties and as our parish and mission community move forward in ministry and service.
Yours in Christ,
Fr. David Gaa, OFM
